I’ve downloaded the Adobe Reader 9 installation program from Adobe’s web site (appx. 35 meg).
When I attempt to run the install, the first thing that happens is an installation of something called ‘SAP Interactive Excel’ (hereafter called SAP I E). Usually this install complains because the client doesn’t have ‘Excel 8.0’ (which I assume is Excel 2007), continues with the SAP I E, then finishes with the Reader 9 installation.
In today’s case the SAP I E install stops with an ‘unable to register files; files may be able to register after reboot’ error. Reader 9 installation never starts. Rebooting makes no difference; restarting the install starts the SAP I E sequence again.
The client systems are all Windows XP Pro SP3, with Office 2003 SP2 (including Excel), SAP R3 client 640 final release, patch 21, and Adobe Reader 8. I’m removing 8 and rebooting before I attempt to install 9.
Does anybody know what SAP I E is, why Adobe 9 apparently triggers it’s installation, and how to install 9 without installing SAP I E?
Thanks.
