I’m currently in the military, and I have about 4 years of experience with a wide variety of OS’s, i.e. Lotus Domino, NT, 2k, and HP Unix, as a systems administrator. I’ve worked more with the software side than the hardware side though. I don’t know more than the basics about routers, switches, hubs, etc. I am planning on going through more schooling in the military, and in through civilian schools. My question is, during the next four years, which certs. should I concentrate on? I am getting the hands on experience, and my next job will give the schooling and hands on experience with all the networking hardware. I want to get my MCSE and my CCNA, and other certs. I don’t really want to stop going to school. But which one should Istart with, the Cisco or Microsoft track? Or should I ditch that altogether and go with Unix? I do prefer Unix servers.
