Ok, here’s a tough one (sorta). I’m a senior consultant in an EC team, with one of the big 5, and I believe I know my ECommerce pretty good.
I know there’s major players like Intelisys, Ariba, ProcureNet, CommerceOne, etc.., on the buy-side (or enterprise procurement). Then there is BroadVisiion, Interworld, OpenMarket, IBM, Netscape, etc., on the sell-side. Going a little deeper we start getting into middleware vendors or specialty vendors taht add their technology on top of the EC engine like Ephipany (OLAP tool), Taxware (tax), Vignette (author management), Acquity (CRM and web-based call-center management), etc.., and tons more.
I could keep going into more depth, but the real question is, has anyone come across a source (website, book or publication, analysts’ report, white paper, etc.,) that keeps track of all the major players in the various levels of the EC Landscape.
