why my excel constantly crashes?

I am very frustrated with my Excel 2003. It crashes all the time.
My boss says that I should not using complex spread sheets. The IT says it is because o my spread sheet. Is out there anyone that could say something meaningful?
I sent all reports to Microsoft but what can expect from them?
