Will a new mouse and new keyboard work after Destructive System Recovery?

Someone asked me to do a Destructive System recovery on their computer (Windows XP Home), but last year she replaced the old mouse and keyboard. When and how should I install the CD-Roms for the mouse and keyboard after the system recovery? Or will they still work?
