win2000 sharing with nt4server

Ok, so i have a network running with nt4 server. Have win95/98 clients accessing and sharing no problems. Recently added Win2000 clients that are logging into the workgroup. If a share a folder on a Win2000 box I cannot access from Win95/98 boxes. Asks for a password. Why is that?
