win2k and port 137/139

by rico_in_montreal . Updated 25 years, 7 months ago

i am running a win2k advanced server box in native mode with proxy server , i use DNS for name resolution for a private lan behind MSproxy II and also run FTP and www services .
on my public nic theses ports are open : 25 , 53 , 80, 110 , 137 139 and 1080 (ok there’s a little more….)
25 and 110 for mail , 53 for DNS (recursive request need a path) 80 for HTTP ,
my question is : since i am not running any WINS resolution or netbt stacks why i am listening on 137/139

question #2 , what service is listening on 1080 .

question #3 , service loc-srv (TCP #135) is it a required socket for RRAS /inet services ?? or is it a security risk and should be filtered ???

Thanks
