Win7 autologin to restricted user

I have setup a laptop that automatically logs in to a restricted user, this user only has access to 2 vpn shortcuts on the desktop,
i need to login as administrator to change some settings but i cant- i had done some registry edits before and the hold shift on bootup was working, now when i need to get in its not.

any ideas?
