window 98 and linux

I have my HDD partitioned one side with 98 and one side with 2000 pro, I want to load linux red hat 7.2, I dont want to use 2000 for the time. Could any one give me some good instructions on loading it up right. I would still like to keep win 98 with out having to loose any info. Any help would be great.
