Windows 2000

If a SAS WINLOG ERROR comes up when a machine having Windows 2000 Server is rebooted, what is the cause of the problem and what is the solution – other than reinstalling Win2000 ? One software was installed just before this happened and the machinehad to be rebooted – after which the above error came up.

Also would like to know whether can one go in safe mode, uninstall the software and then proceed further.

Any suggestions/tips would be most welcome.
