Windows 2000 hangs

Windows 2000 hangs in several places with many or no applications running–ONLY when the print software is installed(Hewlett Packard) and when printer is uninstalled, and networked printers are used instead it has no problems. Please any suggestions…
Hewlett Packard 950c been deleted and reinstalled 4 times using the instalation software from 3 different places even from Hewlett Packard web-site
