Windows ME is killing me…

Upgraded my Win98 to WinME (Windows Millennium, full version)..Everything seems to be working fine, no problems with the install, however, my modem (BestData 56K), will now dial my ISP, verify user name and password, but it stops after that. It willnot load any pages, bytes received will not go over 435 or so..Any clues?
