Windows Update not working after installing Win 7 Pro on my HP laptop

I just installed Win 7 Pro on my hp-2000 laptop. Everything works great except I’m unable to get Window Updates to come through with updates. I was able to update and scan my computer with Microsoft Security Essentials but the Windows Update just won’t respond with new updates. Any suggestions? I’d appreciate any help in resolving this issue.
