Windows won’t shut down

I have windows 98 second edition installed on
my system. Recently I installed Netzero on it
and now when I go to shutdown,it gets to the
splash screen saying windows is shuting down
and gets stuck there, it doesn’t shut down.How do I fix thatproblem, I went into the bios and it doesn’t have the option under power management where you can disable that option. My system is a Hewlett Packard Pavillion 7280P system.
