Windows XP / cable Internet / home network

I have 2 Dell Dimension 2350 on a home network. I am attempting to connect to cable internet through the cable modem and Linksys 4-port Router.

The cable company requires setting the router to Static [fixed] IP address;

but the Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller is a WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface.

The internet connection is not working; will it work with the router set at Static IP address and the integrated controller is PPPoE?

Am I needing to buy a PCI 10/100 Ethernet Card? I will appreciate all the help I can get. I am using dialup until I resolve my issues.
