Windows XP will not start

Windows XP starts to load, but then stops without showing the Windows logo. I restart and go into Safe Mode. I restart and Windows loads properly. I have scanned for malicious software, booted from my original CD to repair XP and have restored the registration file. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
