WinNT networking with WinXp Home Edition

I have a problem….!!!!!
I can not get my NT machine, which is acting as my server for a small Peer-to-Peer (16+server), to network with my new XP hm ed.. I went through the setup process and still can not get it to recognize the NT. Ultimately the goal is to get the Xp to become the server with the NT machine to become extra storage for application delivery throughout the network. How can I get this intrepid thing to act right???????
