Winsows 2000 SPeed

Hi ,
Just looking for any ideas on why Windwos 2000 client has very slow network speed , almost always a delay of 10/15 seconds on opening any network resource.
The machines are pretty high spec.
I currently have NT servers with a few Win2000 machines for testing purposes.
All ideas/suggestions would be grateful.
