Hello,
I’m trying to use my office pc from home using Windows XP Remote Desktop feature.
Scenario
My office network includes some winxp pro desktops connected as peer-to-peer (192.168.0.N); one of those is acting as Internet Gateway via Internet Connection Sharing and has two nics; the second nic is connected with an ADSL modem/router (10.0.0.N) Thompson Speedtouch 510 (addresses are translated via NAT by default).
At home I just have a WinXP Pro laptop that connect to the Net with dialup/standard modem.
My Problem
To use Remote Desktop from the Net I need to know the public IP address of the desktop I want to reach; the only IP from my Office I can reach is the ADSL modem since all the other office desktops have private addresses; I set up a VPN (incoming connections) on the desktop acting as Internet Gateway because I’d also like to access aother office network resources; VPN is not working either because I can’t reach this desktop from outside.
I found an article that says how to remove the NAT feature from the ADSL modem (http://www.stonki.de/Speedtouch_510.13.0.html) but before going on I’d like to know if this is the best way to solve my problem or I should change my network architecture?
