WinXP schedule shutdown of applicatons

Does anyone know if you can use WinXP to shutdown an application before actually shutdown the computer.

I have used the C:\WINDOWS\system32\tsshutdn.exe 0 /delay:0 /powerdown command to shutdown the computer which works brilliantly but I cant seem to get it to shutdown an application eg: outlook before shuting down.

Any clues please????
