Wireless issues on XP

Hello,
I am having problems seeing and connecting to a wireless network on XP (SP2). I have re-installed the drivers for the wireless receiver on the computer, checked the signal strength is good enough in that area on my laptop, manually entered the SSID and password and I still do not see the network, tried connecting using Windows built in wireless utility and the software that came with it. Can any one help me?
