Word 2002 reboots computer

Hey guys, I have run into an issue where I am connected to a VPN and sending documents over to our home office. Everytime I do a spell check on Word 2002 it reboots my computer and when it restarts it takes me right back to where I left off. Has anyone ever heard of this? I have googled and searched all over but have yet to find an answer. My last resort is to upgrade Word but I don’t know if that will fix it. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
