Word 2003 show page/section breaks w/o showing index codes

I have a very long Word 2003 document and I have added index codes so that I can have an index at the end. My problem is that when I click the Show/Hide button so that I can see my paragraph marks and section breaks, it also reveals the index codes which causes my document to repaginate and moves my cursor from where it was. So it makes it difficult for me to figure out where I need to insert new section breaks.

So basically is there a way to see the paragraph marks and section breaks in PAGE LAYOUT VIEW without also seeing the index codes? I’ve gone into Tools-Options-View tab, and selected all formatting marks except Hidden Text, which fixes the index code problem, but then I also can’t see the section breaks. This is very frustrating!
