Word 2007 send to problem…………….

Every time I try to email a .doc directly from Word 2007 using the “send” command, the doc freezes and I have to quit the program. Is there a fix for this problem? So far the only resolution to this I have found is to convert the .doc to a .docm before sending. Has anyone come up with something else? I’m using GroupWise 7.0 as my e-mail client.
