Word 97 File corruption after deletion o

I was supplied a document to change. The header for the cover page contained simply a line with two company logos beneath it. I deleted one of the logos, centered the second and saved the document. When trying to reopen, I get a corrupted file message and then a GPF close app dialog.

HELP!!!
