Work for Contractor or Company?

I’m currently working for a contractor as a help desk support even though I have my,MPC, MCSE 2000 and my CCNA. I know that working for a contractor won’t allow me to progress up to a System Admin which is where I want to be.I’ve been trying to lookfor other jobs but I’m not sure whether to apply to another contractor or a company directly?
