XF86Setup

I have used xf86setup to changed the resolution to 800 x 600. After booting up, I am not able to logon to the GUI, the screen keeps flickering.

How do I enable the standard vga mode at boot time so that I can still go the GUI interface to change the resolution ? If not, what can be done ?
