XP Connectivity

We have a Windows 2000 Small Business and and NT Server. Our XP machines, two of them, have connectivity issues. One in particular is that the connection drops after about an hour or so, but only with the NT server. The cable, NIC card and switch connections are OK. Is this an XP Operating system isssue, or what?
