XP does not logon after Symantec Internet Security 2005

by mabrams_us . Updated 21 years, 8 months ago

After installing NIS 2005 and deleting several viruses, XP boots to the logon screen and does not allow access to the desktop.

Same in safe mode – Admin, Acct1, Acct2 ,… no passwords ever used.

System says “windows is logging on” 15 seconds later “windows is logging off”

Symantec will not offer any solution – they say call Dell. Dell says you bought the software from Symantec.

I just purchased this aggravation and I can’t get assistance from Symantec. Im switching to McAfee – I can afford hours on hold – phone trees nested 7 deep and 10 wide only to be told by Symantec, “its not our problem …”

Does anyone have a suggestion how to fix this other than reload a new OS?

Mark
