XP Home Version Bootup Slow

Question I’ve found my computer taking a long time to boot up first it just stays in the black screen after powering up. Then after about 5 minutes later it comes up with XP HOME screen then it still takes several minutes to get to the login screen then it hangs there for a while. Then after you finally login the desktop screen takes it time and then if you try to open an application you find it taking up more time.
Can anyone give me a solution to assist me in resolving this headache…
