I am the office manager in a small accounting firm and not an IT specialist – therefore please consider the source before laughing hysterically at the question. We run a Win 2000 server handling 6 stations. One of the stations is a last year vintage Dell laptop running XP Pro. This station is prone to crashing – more so than others.
The answer to the crashing problem from our IT is to replace XP Pro with Win 2000 – this action is scheduled to occur next week.
Several of us “non- IT” personnel question the wisdom of such a move – but don’t know the subject matter well enough to form a “expert opinion.” It just seems to be taking a step backwards to some of us novices.
Could any of the readers please offer an opinion – in laymans terms if possible.
Figured if anyone would know, they would be found among an IT peer-group who did not have an axe to grind one way or the other.
