NEC says its new folding mobile phone is the world’s thinnest. The phone is about 0.46 inch thick when folded–slimmer than an AA battery, according to the Japanese electronics conglomerate. The handset features a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, a 1.9-inch color display and music player functionality.
Thin is certainly in for phones. The Moto Q from Motorola, built on the Razr design, is 11.5 millimeters thick–a hair’s breadth thinner than the NEC phone. It features a QWERTY keyboard, e-mail and voice mail, a five-way navigation button and thumb wheel, and stereo speakers.

A potential rival for the Razr is Samsung’s MM-A800 for Sprint, which can play TV shows and 90-minute videos, take dictation, and scan business cards. It also contains a 2-megapixel camera.
