Access freezing

I do data entry with my company, and something strange is happening to our Access 2000 database. When I run a query on a particular field in one of the databases, I cannot resize any of the columns or scroll too quickly up and down, or the area becomes filled with white, the computer freezes up, and upon bringing up task manager, the cpu is at 100%. I then have to crash Access in order to use it again. Also, after trying to close any queries, the following message pops up –“This action will reset the current code in break mode.” And in order to get out, I again have to crash Access. Our admins just synchronized all the versions of Office in our office to 2000, and we have ran anti-virus software, but the problem is still occurring…Any ideas?
