auto complete addresses in Outlook

Where do the addresses that are displayed by outlok as the auto-completed address for the “To:” entry come from and how do I clear them? If I type tom, it may find 2 names; not necessarily the correct address from the name in my contact list. If I ever manually entered an incorrect address then that is what is used, even if the current address in the contact is correct.
