Backing up Exchange 5.5

I have recently taken over administration of a small network, approx. 45 users. We are running Win2K Server & Exchange 5.5. My current exchange backup is done using Windows Backup utility (to backup Exch 5.5 & system state).
My question is how should I be ensuring a complete Exchange backup (I am new to Exchange Admin). Thanks.
