batch files …win95/98

have batch files with drive mappings beyond root directories e.g net use x: \\server\root\sub /y
Each user home directory is set to connect to using the %username%. when the scripts run on win2kpro connection is ok. however on 98/95 an error message appears. I tried sharing the folder
%username% to limit mapping to a shared root but that didn’t help. i need a detailed approach.
