The majority of users are running MS Outlook Express email client and I am trying to find a way to block certain attachments. Our email is externally hosted and the provider offers no attachment filtering options. Outlook Express has a ‘Security’ option that can be enabled to “block attachments”, however we have found this to block ALL attachments…even .doc and .xls.
Documentation from Microsoft indicates that there is a way to setup a ‘blocked file list’ associated with Internet Explorer, however we have had no success with this.
Has anyone had any success with using Outlook Express and blocking POP3 email attachments (i.e., .pif, .exe, .scr, etc.)?? Or is there a 3rd party email client that can be setup to block attachments?? We are trying to avoid upgrading latest Office suite at this time and using Outlook 2003, which does a good job with attachments.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
