Burning pictures to a CD-RW

I have NERO and Easy CD Creator and neither program will allow me to burn my digital pictures to a CD-RW. I can burn them to a CD-R, but when I try and use a CD-RW, an error comes up saying please insert a CD-R/RW to continue the process. The CD-RW is in the burning, but it’s not working! Please Help!!!!
