Can I delete the old server

I have a Exchange 5.5 server that was running with a 2003 server, but the 5.5 server died 🙁 and will cost money and time to get back running again. My questions is will it be safe for me to just delete the 5.5 from my system manager and not bother to re-instate the old 5.5.

Or is there something else I should do before I just delete it (obviously take out replication paths).

The exchange system is running perfect with out the 5.5.
