Can Outlook send an email typ “mailto”

A user copies the email address from a signature to the address line of a new email. Outlook sets the email type to “mailto”. All emails of this typ are not delivered. System error message:
“No service available to deliver the mail to this recipient.”
Is there any way to either change the email type automatically to “smtp” when copying the email address or to setup Outlook to send emails of the address type “mailto”?
