Can’t Log Onto Windows XP in Safe Mode

I changed the boot.ini to safemode with minimal services(the default option) using msconfig utility. Now when I try to log on, it doesn’t recognize my password. I think it’s because my username and password is on the company network domain. I tried to reboot and use F8 to enable safemode with networking but I think the changes I made to the boot.ini is over-riding it. Can someone help me undo the registry change to safe mode or how I can get my password to work? I don’t know of any other usernames or passwords for this computer.
