Can’t Open Messages with Attachments

When I get an e-mail with an attachment (any kind of attachment), Outlook XP locks up and goes to Not Responding. I cannot open the e-mail, delete the e-mail, reply or forward the e-mail. I then have to remove Office and re-install it again. Thisis happening every week. Any suggestions on what the fix might be?
