The company I work for has an Exchange 5.5 server with SP4, running on NT4.0 server with SP6a. About a month ago, the server crashed and unfortunatly, I was unable to restore the email from tape backup. I re-installed, configured installedSP4 and re-created the mailboxes for each user.
Everything ran fine for about 2 weeks. Users were able to send and receive emails from inside and from outside the company.
Since about a week ago, no one is able to send anything outside the company, or receive emails from outside the company, although we can send and receive emails inside the company.
Our router has ports 110 and 25 open and our internet mail connector has the correct mail addressing scheme, (using SMPT and X400).
Ichecked the event logs and see that the POP3 logon and authentication is OK.
When we try to send an email out, we get an error: MSEXCH:IMS:domainname:domainname:servername 3553 553 malformed address
When someone tries to email us from outside, there email, they get the message:
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
UserName on 3/16/03 6:58 AM
The recipient was unavailable to take delivery of the message.
The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=US;a=;p=Micromed;1=SERVERNAME-030314115745Z-281063
MSEXCH:IMSMicromed:Horsham:SERVERNAME 3499 (000B09AA) Host unreachable
