Changing Careers

by thegooch1 . Updated 19 years, 6 months ago

After 20 years in the IT industry, I feel its time to move on. In the last year and half, both my personal and professional life have changed greatly. I have lost interest in the things that used to excite me, and am excited by things that previously did not interest me. Professionaly, I was big on coding, designing, implementing, testing, software applications. Personally, I would write programs for myself and spend too much time on the computer doing IT related research.

Now, I dislike both. It did not happen overnight, but rather over the last 16 months. Slowly but surely, I spent less and less time at the computer, and became increasingly disinterested in IT affairs. Seriously I am holding on to any semblance of motivation through sheer force of will.

Anyhow, I am looking at other fields such as politics, health care, and law. Any of these would be ground floow. The clincher to this is that I do not yet have my bachelor’s, and I am about 12 months from completing it in Comp Sci.

What would you do? Just finish the degree and then change careers? Dump everything and start over ( though I’d still have student loan debt and nothing to show for it )? Or something completely different?
