Converting to Database from Spreadsheet

I have a spreadsheet of contact information that was saved both as an Excel document and a QuattroPro 8 document. This spreasheet contains over 3000 names and addresses. Is there any way to convert either one of these files into a database that easy to handle, without having to retype all the information?
