Creating searchable PDF

I am using Adobe Acrobat 6 to scan all documents in my office to PDF. Creating a searchable PDF slows the scanning process dramatically. Is there a product that will allow me to index my scanned documents in batch mode? I don’t necessarily need to search accross PDFs, but do need to search from within a PDF. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
