debugger running error

I have installed two separate games on WinXP Home edition. When I try to run the software, the error box appears stating that the game can’t run due to a debugger running. I have checked task manager, registry entries, system information, etc. with no success. Does Dr. Watson automatically run a debugger when you install software or is there another program running in the background I can’t seem to find.
This is getting very frustrating, please help.
