Design Mode

I created a document and put a few text boxes and a few check boxes. I
exited design mode and even closed the control toolbox, but everytime I
open the document the document opens in design mode. How do I prevent the
document from opening in design mode? I even saved the doc as a template,
but the template opens in design mode too.
