Diffent Version of symantec

We are currently using Symantec Corperate edition 9 as our antivirus protection software. Normally this is an easy to use and highly reliable product.
My problem is, some bright spark in one of our regional offices has installed the client version 10.1 on approx 200 machines without going through the change managment process so I never caught it before he rolled it out.
Now I have all these machines that I cannot discover from my managment console as it is version 9 update. We are currently planning a rollout of the latest version but as we all know it will take time before we are ready. Does any body know of any easy way to keep these machines up to date without relying on users to update manually while we plan and implement the new sever version.
