Number 7: Disable the preview pane on older Outlook Express versions – The preview pane in the Outlook Express version provided with Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 SP1 is generally considered safe, but you should disable the preview pane on older versions. To do so, click View | Layout and, in the Preview Pane panel, deselect the checkbox next to “Show preview pane”.
